Here is a list of some of the features that may not be so obvious.
In Finder it is possible to drag and drop GIF- and JPEG files on the PageSpinner application icon (or onto an alias to the application). The HTML Assistant will open the Image Topic that will let you insert the image into a page.
Do you want to control where new floating menus are placed when you select a menu item and press Ctrl+Alt+Command? All new menu palettes will use the position last used by the Floating Menu (the one with the scrollbars). Open the Floating Menu in the Windows menu, move it to the desired position on the screen and then close it. Any new palette will now be placed at this position.
Do you need to customize PageSpinner to start up with a special template page?Create the page containing your contents and save it with the name "default.html". Place the file in the PageSpinner folder (the folder where the application is located). The contents of this file will then be used as a template when you select File : New Empty Page.
You can also do the following if you need to use many different templates:
Create pages containing your contents and save it. Select the document in the Finder, use the "Get Info" menu item in the Finder menu and check the box Stationery Pad. Place the file in the folder "PageSpinner Aliases". The next time you start PageSpinner the template will be available in the File : Open Special menu.If you want PageSpinner to start up with this special page, select Preferences : Editor in PageSpinner's File menu, and select Do Nothing at Startup.
If you are using System 7.5 you can also put aliases to several stationery pads in a folder and put that folder in the Apple Menu for quick access to the templates.
Do you need to a fast way to find the next location of a specific text you are seeing in the editor window? Select the text to find, use Command-E (to Enter selection to find) and then use Command-G (to Find Again). If you want to start to search at the top of the file to find the text use:

Does it takes a long time to save a file? The following options will make it slower to save a file:
If possible, you can disable these options to make PageSpinner save a page faster.
- Setting a file to use MS-DOS line feeds
- Processing Includes and date stamps
Does it takes a long time to read your Bookmark file in HTML Aissistant's Link topic? If you are using a machine with PowerPC, installing SpeedDoubler will decrease the loading time up to ten times: a large Bookmark file that took 55-65 seconds without SpeedDoubler, loads under 6 seconds with SpeedDoubler.
How do I type a “typograpical” (curly) quote? To be able to quickly type (or apply) a “typograpical” quote you can add a user definied tag in the User tag menu that consists of:
Start tag: “ End tag: ”Note that no < ... > should be entered. This quote is not built-in in PageSpinner since the characters used in a typograpical quote are different in different languages. See PageSpinner Basics on how to add a user tag in the User tag menu.
The character code for ’ is by the way ’ (and this could also be entered in a user defined tag).
Note that if you type the character ‘ ’ “ ” directly in the text these are only converted automatically if you save the file in the ISO Latin-1 format. If you use the ISO 8859-1 format you will need to manually change the characters to the approprate &#xxx; codes.
